OKAY so here is the deal...motivation is the key.

I am not sending anything out for people to start with this time around because I just don't get things returned... 38 handmade books were not returned. that sucks. the people who did follow thru did some awesome work. so heres the new project...

    Hi jasmine:

Sorry to hear that the returns on the book project were so poor. You'll probably get a few more late ones. Figure people always have good intentions, but life has a way of getting in the way of even the best intentions. Sucks, though, for you, with all the wonderful energy you bring to this.

Count me in to send you an 8" square piece. I LOVE the challenge of working in a square. Will you be putting a deadline on this project?

As an aside, thought you might like to hear about a fund-raising project that's run annually by the institution where I did my art studies in Toronto, the Ontario College of Art and Design. They mail hundreds of 5-1/2" x 7-1/2" watercolour cards to present students and alumni and request that they make them into works of art and then mail them back to the college. They then have a 3-day viewing of the works, then 2 sales days. The show is called "Whodunnit?" as the artists are required to put their names on the back of the pieces so whoever purchases them has no idea who made them. Each piece is sold for $75. I participated this year for the second time and sent in this piece:

    toronto.tribe.net/template/...text/pcard

The college raises $100,000 each year with the show. Cool, eh?

Keep up the good work, jasmine.

    Allan

P.S.: You might wish to delete your duplicate thread for this project.

nope no deadline on the project...

that fundraiser is awsome. I think I've read about it before.

I think i was disappointed with this mailing because i put more energy making the inital piece than i did with the others.... And i have been critized for not being more involved in the process...so i think i had higher expectations.

by the way i love squares, too.
