Judy: i'd love to get in on second mailings. As i understand it, these books will be sent to multiple artists over time? is that list closed, or open to the rest of us who were too chicken to face a blank book?

brilliant project, i'm eager to see results.

my intensions are not to resend these books. only if someone blanks and sends it back undone. i would like to do a resend project or an artist generated trade next though. with an about 30% return rate...im looking at maybe 15 out of 50 of the books that i just sent out will come back...then if i send then again maybe 5 will come back for me to show...so as i see it this is not incouraging to do mult artist trade...not that it is not allowed...may of the mailings i have recieved back have been worked on by more than one person...just not mailed to another person. but i'm always open to new ideas and i'm ready to start working on the next mailing... so if you know of a way to get more returns let me know.

Got my book here in Ontario. So excited... Not sure quite what I'm going to do with it yet. Will sit and contemplate with it a bit before I start anything. It's such a neat little artifact, on its own, even before anything is added to it. Thanks for including me, Jasmine!

great allan, glad to hear it reached you, i was worried people might be disappointed after recieving them, since they are very simple, but it's not easy to make 50 of anything...also i wanted them to kinda be interesting on their own, I liked to make them "fly" hold that middle page and lift it up and down. -j

        Got mine, too!

I'll have to change my plans slightly, as I didn't account for the weight of the paper. Nevertheless, the creative wheels are a-turnin'...

Hey Judy-- got the book today. I love the screen print on the front.

My question is this-- what kind of glue did you use to assemble these books. I'm thinking about restructuring and was wondering if the glue was something a little bath might dissolve. If not-- I'll just have to keep thinking.

      Hi JAsmine,
Is there any way to separate off the SKIN books in the gallery so we can go directly to those shots? Or can you tell us which page they start on?
I'm still mulling on mine--looking forward to creating my version.

ack! I've put some time into this project, but I have been having trouble. My focus has shifted three times now. I don't know how closely the final product will fit the theme, but it's been an interesting trip getting here. Assuming I AM here, or anywhere. I hope to finish on Sunday, and I'll try to have it in the mail next week.

I like the projects I've seen so far - great work, everybody!

Mine may be a little off topic as well... maybe... hmmm... maybe it's right on. I don't know. Anyway, it will be done so so soon. I'll post phots when it's finally finished.

That Dec. 1 deadline, that's a postmark deadline, right?

      :-)

          Hi Jasmine--
THe Skin-book went out today. I decided to just send it through the regular post as it came to me. I'm thinking it ought to make the trip in time for the deadline. Hopin so...
Thanks again for the chance to participate-- this project was an interesting challenge. Are you scanning and selecting certain key spreads (from the books) that you like the best, and then posting them? Or are they going to be posted in full? I ask because my scanner's down and I just chose to send it off without documenting it first, and now I regret doing so...
Ah, well, either way--- no biggie...

        Done!

Photos posted from page 21 forward.

It turned into a bit of a pharmacological field study guide, and yet....

even so, it goes in the mails tomorrow

cheers Ms. Jasmine! this was fun; thanks for organizing.

My book is made of building skin, steeple skin and bird skin (sort of).

Since it is about itself it contains no words or images to distract from that.

The cover is made of cement (building skin.) The pages are lined with copper (steeple skin). It has a pheasant tail feather for a bookmark (bird skin). And a galvanized steel pillow decorating the cover (galvanization, of course, is steel skin).

Three photos of it are on page 22. The feather is packaged separately for shipping. The photos show where to put it when it arrives.

Thanks, Jasmine, for all of it.

Rick: Wonderful, immediate drawings. Really enjoyed the pharmacological tour.

Joel: A fabulous artifact you have created: tactile, architectural, beautifully conceived.

                Thanks, jasmine, I think, :-)

I did all of it while waiting. The most consistent thing about the fine new life your book found me starting.

So, usually sitting in a musty lounge somewhere in overstuffed chairs with soft lighting and horrible magazines, waiting for my doctor, therapist, druggist... or in a more chaotic atmosphere waiting for a connection, meeting, reunion; clandestine or otherwise, or a child's sport practice to be finished.

Anyway, I hope you find it a good, or at least interesting, kind of strange. I'd definitely do it again, although I couldn't even begin to tell you where it would take me.

btw, I can take the images down from the gallery, if you'd like... it looks like you're selecting which spreads are shown? Let me know.

no leave them up, i've just been lazy not scanning in the whole books...

and yes it was a compliment.

Its always interesting to hear about where art was made..i love my vacation art....drawing on trains and planes and in airports ....Its like being surrounded by all these nosies and people and being able to concentrate on this little pencil line.
